I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the\u00a0VSB<\/a>-Technical University of Ostrava<\/a>\u00a0in 1995 and I hold a doctorate degree in Telecommunications from the same faculty<\/a> (FEECS). I received my Ph.D. in 2002 and the\u00a0thesis dealt with\u00a0 “Voice traffic optimization with regard to speech quality in the\u00a0network with VoIP technology” and I passed the habilitation process in 2009.<\/p>\n

I was appointed Full Professor in Electronics and Communications technologies in 2017.\u00a0Since 2013, I have led\u00a0Dept. of Telecommunications<\/a> in a position of\u00a0department chair at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science<\/a>\u00a0and I served also in a position of department chair of Big Data Analysis Lab in IT4Innovations | National Supercomputing Centre<\/a> in period 2017-2023.<\/p>\n

Miroslav VOZNAK (IEEE Senior Member) is a professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. He received his Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications in 2002, achieved habilitation in 2009, and was appointed full professor in 2017. His research interests include cybersecurity, IoT, QoS\/QoE, wireless networks, and big data analytics in networks. According to WoS, he has published more than 250 articles in SCIE journals such as IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications and IEEE Communications Magazine. He participated in\u00a0 european research projects such as FP7 INDECT, H2020 TETRAMAX, H2020 OpenQKD, NATO QUANTUM5 and HE QUESTING, mostly as an institutional coordinator. Since 2020, he has been ranked regularly among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Career Impact DB) by Stanford University in the subfield Networking & Telecommunications.<\/p>\n

Research areas<\/h3>\n

I started my research at the end of the 1990s in the field of real-time applications’ traffic modelling, at this time fundamentals of Voice over IP were forming and tuning. My deep gratitude belongs to CESNET<\/a>, enabling my research in the IP telephony domain. I have devoted many efforts to the improvement of non-intrusive speech quality evaluation methods, Quality of Service (QoS), Quality of Experience (QoE), and security of real-time applications in networks. I focused my intent on wireless communication, Internet of Things, energy harvesting, network security, and lately also on big data analytics<\/a> in networks, everything is related to the research projects in which I participate\/participated. Generally, my professional interest focuses on communication technologies and related issues.<\/p>\n
